A paranormal romance from the Santeria Habitat series.
Cameo lives in a caged supernatural city where all species are tagged at birth with silver brands embedded in their foreheads. Her X brand identifies her as a Mixbreed, but she’s so much more. Like a chameleon, she can shift from one person’s image to another.
It’s a great way to make money for a habitat street kid, or Cage Punk as most people call them. Wiz, her street partner-in-crime, finds her jobs to use her abilities. Some jobs entail changing into people to take academic tests. Others require more skill and involve higher risk.
So when Wiz asks Cameo to stand in for a Were-wolf teenager who doesn't want to go to her debutante ball, it seems like just another job, until a corpse is discovered and an old friend of Wiz appears.

Chameleon is about a girl named Cameo who lives in a caged city (or habitat) for supernaturals in a modern day America. Cameo has the ability to change into other people, and that's how she makes her money once she runs away from home. Though Cameo can change her shape into other people, what she looks like naturally tends to disgust and scare most everyone she comes across. Supernaturals are branded in ways to mark what they are (witches, weres, vampires, etc, etc.) but the mixed breeds (like Cameo) have an X mark on their body. The mix breeds are shunned and ridiculed by the full blooded supernaturals.I really enjoyed this story from the beginning even though it's outside of the usual genre I tend to gravitate to. I'm not going to lie, at one point in this story (no spoilers as to what part) I cried so hard the words blurred and I had to take a moment to compose myself. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because the ending seemed rushed and there were minor editing issues that tended to trip me up along the way... Regardless, I personally enjoyed it and will be recommending this book to my friends and family.

I always enjoy the writing of Kenya Wright. Can't wait for more. I will be searching for another of her books now.
Original plot that kept me reading straight through. Thank you for the fun time. I look forward to more from this author.
I literally couldn't put this book down and am I writing this review while on break at work. My plan is to find every book written by Kenya Wright. I love the way her mind works and her pen flows with it
A really fun read. I liked Cameo and her struggles. She wanted the truth and wasn’t afraid to go looking for it. The ending was a surprise but I liked it. A great read.
The story was outstanding, just reading about people that have animal spirits and many time physically show their animal characteristic was truly a different way to spend a tale, the characters were memoriable and some endearing I totally enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading the continuation of this series.
This one needs some proofreading, there are a lot of typos. The story itself is interesting, but at times a bit confusing. The ending felt too abrupt, like the author just gave up.
This book drew me in from the 1st paragraph. I am a scifi buff and tend to read all things paranormal. The main characters stayed true to form and made you want to delve deeper. The author kept an element of something more in this book. The characters were not one dimensional and the more I read the more I felt I have barely scratched the surface. The world building was awesome, i was in the Habitat. It was beautiful to see how the heroine's motley crew became family. She spent all her life trying to fit in and belong somewhere that she never considered she was right where she belong. She was the one holding them all together. I know this is not a normal review but I just get so excited about strong female leads even when they are at their most vulnerable. Kudos to the author.
